While the Josef team is working hard to build the best document automation platform possible, there are a few things to know before you start automating.
Here we'll cover
Formatting
The Josef Word editor features a range of formatting features that allow builders to make format edits in-app.
However, if you'd like to make more advanced formatting edits, such as adding new tables, bullet point styling, new images or font styling, etc., we recommend
- Exporting your automated document from the Josef Word editor
- Making the formatting edits in Microsoft Word
- Re-uploading the edited document
Learn how to export & re-upload documents.
Note: When you re-upload the edited document, all your variables, rules & loops will remain intact. No need to re-automate!
Unsupported content
You may also want to export in order to edit
-
- Cross-references
- If a clause contains a cross-reference, please note that we currently cannot insert variables into that clause.
- Special fields (e.g. tables of contents)
- Hyperlinks
- Cross-references
Such content is currently unsupported and uneditable in the Josef Word editor. But not to fear! We're busy working to ensure it's editable in the future.
In the meantime, we recommend exporting your document, editing it in Microsoft Word, and then re-uploading it.
Note: Microsoft Word checkboxes are also currently unsupported, meaning they cannot be automated. We, therefore, recommend
- Replacing them with appropriate wording; or
- Leaving the checkbox as a manual task to be performed after the document has been generated.
